The RTCT-1 is a tape-insulated split core current transformer specifically designed to be small and easy to open into two halves. The benefit of a split core is that it can be placed into position easily and without disturbing the cables/ disconnecting the main cables it is monitoring.
The tape enables the current transformer to be manufactured smaller and can be more suitable in confined areas.
Before fitting any current transformers the circuit must be totally isolated. Under no circumstances should you try and install current transformers to a live circuit.
